Food, Music and entertainment, vendors and children’s activities as Bridgeton Main Street partners with the Bridgeton Area Chamber of Commerce to offer a daylong crab and beer smorgasbord on the Bridgeton Riverfront! ••••Sunset Lake Kayak Challenge OR 
        “What's a RiverFest without making some waves?” The venerable towns of Upper Deerfield, 
        Hopewell and Bridgeton all border on beautiful Sunset Lake, which feeds the Cohansey River from 
        the northern end of Bridgeton City Park.  Feisty citizens of all three towns will compete for the 
        FIRSTEVER/RIVERFEST Sunset Lake Challenge Cup, showcasing their powerful respective 
        rowing skills AND showing that friendly competition MEANS inter-municipal cooperation too--just
        what's needed now to restore, protect and preserve this precious natural resource.  Guaranteed 
        fun--and maybe even some friendly fundraising--along the way...plus a slight chance of somebody 
        getting wet! No charge to watch and root for your favorite team!  10 AM at the beach at

•••Cohansey River Nature Sail- Sail with Captain Rick Bacon--60 minutes of pure opportunity to explore the river and its splendor from aboard the 30-foot “Tern.” Sails depart from Hancock’s Harbor, Greenwich, at 10AM, 11:30AM, 1PM, 2:30PM and 4PM. The Tern accommodates 6 passengers. Advance reservations are recommended! $10 adult/$5 child. Call the Cousteau Center at 856 575-5580. 
  ••• Come Help Us launch the REMUS!- a lightweight Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) that navigates via acoustic, dead reckoning, and GPS and logs data every one to two seconds. The REMUS can measure river current speed, direction, and depth, & describe water quality via a number of monitoring factors like temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, chlorophyll & much more! Launch from Fountain Park area north side of Riverfront, Bridgeton. Launches twice about 1 PM & 3 PM. For more information call the Cousteau Center at 856 575-5580.     FREE
••• Ecological Gems of the Lower Cohansey River – Join the American Littoral Society for a two-hour guided walk that really brings  “nature & culture together” through the scenic wilds of beautiful Fairfield Township. Stops at the oldest burial ground in Cumberland County as well as historic Brick House Farm, PLUS PSEG’s “Green Swamp Preserve” Wetland Restoration Site and the Dix Wildlife Management Area, the last remaining forested wilderness area in the Cohansey watershed!! Bus to Fairfield leaves Bridgeton Boat Ramp @ 9AM & 2 PM. FREE
••• Cohansey River “Gotta See An Eagle” Bike Tour Bike on down with the American Littoral Society, from Bridgeton's Riverfront Boat Ramp to Hancock Harbor in historic Greenwich, & catch the amazing wildlife  along 20 miles of scenic roads & trails! This one-way tour for bikers of better-than-average ability includes brief stops at Cohansey Wildlife Management Area, Greenwich Ye Greate Street &  Caviar Point. Lunch at Hancock Harbor “Bait Box” restaurant (at the Greenwich marina) OR lock up your bike for self pick-up later & grab our free 12:30 shuttle service back to Bridgeton's Crabfest (& return when you're ready to get on the bike again!). 9AM-12 (about). $6
   •••Cruise the Cohansey on the Osprey - Join Captain David Githens and crew at Hancock Harbor in Greenwich for a smooth  1 1/2-hour scenic cruise on the 36-passenger PA-equipped OSPREY, with open and enclosed viewing decks for points of interest & extra binoculars for spotting the Cohansey’s rich wildlife...from those elusive but majestic bald eagles to osprey, northern harrier, and maybe even a flock of sand hill cranes! ••Plein-Air Landscape Painting Competition – The Cumberland County Cultural & Heritage Commission partners with Gallery 50 in Bridgeton to invite artists out to paint in the “open air.” A $400 prize awaits the big winner in this juried contest for the best painting of the scenic Cohansey! So put on that straw hat, and take off the gloves! THERE IS NO FEE TO ENTER but you MUST pre-register thru August 13!  Morning check-in required Saturday 8/28 (7:30-9AM), paint all day or part of the day till 6PM, return work to Gallery 50 by 6:30 PM.

  •• Paddle the Bridgeton Raceway with Al & Sam - Enjoy a half-hour or more of bucolic   
              scenery, great exercise & family fun cruising along the old Cumberland Nail & Iron Mill 
              Raceway hrough Bridgeton City Park. Be sure to listen for the whoops & yelps of the wild & 
              crazy creatures as you pass along the banks of the historic Cohanzick Zoo, oldest in the state. 
              Start @ e Raceway “launch” on Mayor Aitken Drive, a short walk up Commerce Street from 
              RiverFest  Central.   10AM to 5 PM.     FREE
     ••Marine Science Snapshots – 10 images/10 minutes! 
    Kids of all ages share a day in the life of a marine scientist at the Cousteau Center/Bridgeton, as experts show a series of “snapshots” of the way-way cool things they do, like:
o	Fish tracking using acoustic telemetry
o	Sturgeon mapping using REMUS, a remote-control underwater vehicle
o	New ways to stop erosion & keep shorelines alive
o	Using PEOPLE to restore OYSTERS
o	The living “benthos”: a glimpse of the Bay bottom
o	Oyster forensics (huh?): detective work to combat oyster disease
o	Oyster aquaculture in New Jersey...and more!

•• Get Hooked on Fishing – Children learn how to cast a rod with Rutgers University marine scientists and local fishermen. Continuous,

••• Kids’ Corner on the Cohansey: Children’s Crafts & Other Fishy Things – 11 AM -5PM (continuous) Stop by the Cousteau Center/Bridgeton for some entertaining and exciting activities that will introduce you to our feature creature, the Atlantic sturgeon, and other amazing marine animals. ••• Feature Film – The Cousteau Center/Bridgeton and the Ashley-McCormick Center team up for a special presentation of: Sturgeon: Eggs to Die For, a half-hour documentary film about our “feature-creature”  1PM, 3PM & 6PM @ Ashley-McCormick Center, 40 E. •••  When the River Ran Red – Walk off a few Crabfest calories on a storytelling tour that wraps neatly around the downtown heart of Bridgeton’s otherwise HUUUUge Historic District (largest in the state). Dip into the deep river of Bridgeton’s history from the Nail House to the Courthouse to Angie’s Silk City Diner, and find out why, in the days of thrumming industry, the Cohansey really did run red. 4PM-5:30 PM. Tour starts in front of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Store: 18 E. Commerce & returns to the Riverfront.                                                                 FREE

••• John DuBois Maritime Museum 949 Ye Greate Street, Greenwich (856) 455-1774– The ties that bind Greenwich & the winding Cohansey Estuary are as deep & old as the American experience itself. Join Cumberland County Historical Society docents for an intimate look at the Museum’s amazing collection of maritime artifacts, and hang on for some of the sea-tales they call up from the deep! The Museum will be open 10 am-6 pm. Self-drive to site.               FREE

     •••Sturgeon, Crabs, and Underwater Robots, Oh My!         Come and meet the amazing 
        autonomous underwater vehicle, REMUS (Remote Environmental Monitoring UnitS), and the 
        scientists that use it. Equipped with a variety of environmental sensors. these robots enable 
        scientists to almost literally paint a picture of underwater habitats. (Hey, is this ‘Plein Water’ Art?) 
        Learn how this special robot is exploring the DELAWARE BAY bottom in search of the elusive 
        Atlantic sturgeon. REMUS will be on display at the Cousteau Center throughout the day, except 
        when you get  to see it IN ACTION on its Cohansey River mini-missions between Commerce & 
        Broad Streets on the Bridgeton Riverfront. (Listen for nnouncements!).     FREE
        ••  Comedian Magician Bill Kerwood ...combines comedy and magic to entertain  audiences of all
